Top Post of 2014

January 2, 2015 by Crystal McClean

Today I’m joining many other great KBN bloggers to talk about the  our best posts of 2014. One of our personal favourites, as well as being loved by our readers was our Optometrist’s Office pretend play.   It’s a lot of fun so we thought we’d share it with you today.  It combines some of our favourite things: books, crafts, and fun learning.

Best Post of 2014 Optometrist Pretend Play and Crafts

We love to combine books and crafts with learning when we can.  And we’ve achieved this with this project.  We read books on optometry, visited the optometrist, and created an optician’s stand, complete with several designs of glasses.

Then the children had fun pretending to be both the patient and the doctor.  Kallista also had help with her letter recognition when reading the eye chart.

Do you have a favourite post from 2014?

Check out other ways the children have learned their letters:

  • Personal name puzzle
  • Alphabet soup
  • Using blocks to create letters
  • Fun ways to print your name
  • Letter formation and street signs

Pinned, I can understand why this would be so popular. Thanks for sharing so others can replicate!

Although technically, the post is from 2013, it’s really taken off in the past few months! The kids love to play it. They’ll have more ‘patients’ to check out now that Christmas has passed.
