If you’re looking for teacher helpers for the kindergarten to grade 5 range, have a look into Super Teacher Worksheets, you’ll be hard-pressed not to find something to help you out.
We received a Super Teacher Worksheets Individual Membership worth $19.95/year. The majority of the worksheets are for children from kindergarten to grade 5, but they are currently adding more resources right up to grade 8.
Lately my children have been spending a lot of time on the PC for their education and this doesn’t make me happy. There’s a lot to be learned on-line, but I’m a little old-fashioned. The worksheets I’ve found on Super Teacher Worksheets mean that I can print out what the children want to learn and they can complete the worksheets anywhere, anytime, and I don’t need to worry about our internet connection dropping off and them losing their work.
The amount of choice (over 10,000 PDFs) available is a little overwhelming when you first log in. Some of the subjects you’ll find are:
- Reading & Writing
- Social Studies
In addition to these, there are also holiday and seasonal worksheets, puzzles and brain teasers, and award certificates. And if you’re feeling creative and want to make your own worksheets, they have several worksheet generators for math, word searches, games, flashcards, and more. Tristan had fun with a quick autumn word search I made. And I think I might use the newsletter generator to send fun family updates by email. I did this when Tristan was a baby, but I didn’t keep up with it because it took too long. With templates to choose from here, I may just start back up again.
What I do when I find a worksheet I think will be good for the children is to have a peek at it first. Then I’ll save it to “My File Cabinet” so I can keep track of which worksheets we’ve already done, or I can print another off if needed. Next I’ll print off the worksheet (each PDF also includes an answer key). I don’t print the answers as I can easily find them in my file cabinet later.
We’ve used these worksheets just about everywhere! The first time the children used them was after a walk by the sea. They had a snack and then learned about the layers of the earth. Tristan and Kallista each had worksheets on the topic. Kallista had a colour, cut, and glue paper model of the layers while Tristan had some reading and then answered some more involved questions.
I like that both children can work on the same topic, but at levels that are appropriate to each of them. When they were learning about time, I printed a clock with movable hands and bendable flaps so Kallista could practice telling time by 5s. While Kallista worked on that Tristan did a worksheet for telling time to the minute.
We recently went camping, and there’s even a worksheet for that! The children learned to read a map using a diagram of a campground.
Tristan’s having fun learning about different water formations. He’s matching up the definitions with the water formation using cards we all helped to colour. He can also play ‘memory’ with Kallista while using them.
There’s so much I like about this site, from the variety of worksheets and activities, to the easy-to-use generators. And it’s awesome that the currency worksheets come not only in USD, but also in CDN, AUS, & the British pound. Kallista’s been matching up cards with coins to their values. And now that she has that down, she wants to learn about Canadian currency as well.
My children say they like everything about these worksheets, and are always eager to do them.
What would I like to see improved about this site? There’s a separate area for pre-k and K, but I’d love to be able to see all of the grade 2 (for example) worksheets in one place to make it easier to find exactly what I’m looking for.
These teacher helpers are not just for teachers. They’re a great resource for homeschoolers, daycares, and parents. And as an added bonus, Spanish translations are available for many of the worksheets.
