To wrap up our indoor camping experience we will leave you with the classic camping snack; S’mores. I had my first S’more at a Girl Guide camp and loved it!

Phil hadn’t heard of S’mores until we made them for the weekly movie and popcorn night for Daddy and Children. For most of the year it’s just them spending some special time together while I’m out at a Monday night meeting. But over the summer this night has been rescheduled for Fridays so I can join them. Though the kids love their cuddles with Daddy so much that sometimes they prefer I spend my time working at the computer instead….but thankfully they usually share some popcorn with me!
S’mores ingredients:
- Large marshmallows,
- Graham crackers (here we’ve used Digestives instead as I haven’t been able to source Graham crackers yet)
- Chocolate squares (we’ve used non-dairy for the children due to allergies, and it still worked)
How we made our scrumptious S’mores:
To make the experience more authentic, first we tried to roast the marshmallows over our DIY campfire….but it just didn’t work, so then Phil roasted the marshmallows over the stove.
I placed a square of chocolate in the middle of a Digestive, and when the marshmallow was nicely browned it was placed on top and squished down with a second Digestive. The hot marshmallow melted the chocolate into a gooey richness.
Everyone enjoyed their first S’more experience and were soon asking for S’more!
Note to self…Don’t serve S’mores after the children have been dressed for bed. Clean white pjs do not mix well with gooey chocolate and marshmallow, but I don’t think it bothered Kallista too much!
