This is one of those things that came to me late one night and I’m glad I wrote it down. I’d forgotten all about it until I came across the little piece of paper with my funny diagram on it.
Tristan loves taking photos, and he used to use my old first digital camera until it quit. While we were in Canada Papa did some scouting for us in second-hand electronic shops and pointed us in the right direction. We managed an awesome deal on a “new-to-Tristan” proper digital camera. He takes it with him on many adventures!
So in honour of Tristan and his skills, we’ve made this healthy and delicious snack to go with it.
It’s simply a slice of Melba toast (or Ryvita, or anything in a rectangular shape), cheese for the flash and viewfinder, a slice of radish for the lens, and a piece of celery for the tripod. You could use a cherry tomato sliced in half for the lens, or a grape, or anything you happen to have in the fridge or cupboard and make it a little different each time!
To further this snack for older children, you could ask what they would like to take photos of, what do they see through the camera, where would it be/how would they get there, etc., and turn snack time into story time!
