On The Go Degusta Box Top Picks
Each month we feature our top picks in the box. Of course, these choices are based on our own tastes, and I’d love to hear what your favourites are, just pop them down in the comments at the end of this post.

The Drink me Chai, which was a bonus gift this month was really very nice, and is just like a drink Phil and I used to have quite often about a decade ago as a little treat. We mixed this with hot milk (you can also use water). It’s rich with spice but the milk tempers that out to a smooth beverage. Whether enjoying this in the midst of December with the smell of cinnamon and cardamon making you feel cozy, or on a rainy summer’s day, it’s a lovely drink.

Swizzels Great British Puds was the least expensive item in this month’s box, but it’s one of the most delightful! Little chewy bars in the flavours of Lemon Meringue (my favourite), Sticky Toffee Pudding, Apple Pie & Custard, and Rhubarb Crumble. I would suggest you purchase these under the guise of stocking up early for Trick-or-Treaters…but they won’t last that long so you’ll have to make another trip for the young folks as you won’t want to share.

TREK Salted Caramel Protein Flapjack bars are a good size to fill you up, and I was surprised to learn that they are gluten-free and vegan, too. They are chewy with the right amount of crunch and a layer of salted caramel over the top. I’ve tucked a couple away in my jacket for when I’m out walking and my energy fades. I’ll sit on a rock by the sea, have a bite and enjoy the view before continuing on.
The Kids’ Top Picks

Tristan loves the Twinings Cold Infuse (watermelon, strawberry, and mint flavour). While I made myself a glass to try it out, he made himself a pitcher while I was out walking by the sea so that he could stay hydrated on a sunny day. All you need to do is drop a tea bag into cold water, stir, and let the flavours infuse. Nice and refreshing! This would be great for camping as you don’t even need to boil a kettle.

Raisins in a box were also a fun treat in Canada, and now kids can have sultanas, as well as apple juice-infused strawberries in handy snack packets. With no added sugar or sweeteners (they’re plenty sweet enough naturally), these are a great snack for picnics or back yard beach parties.

The children liked the Simpleas Pea Powered Curls. The yellow peas for these are grown right here in the UK, and they’re baked, not fried, so they’re nice and crispy and not greasy. We think they could have just a touch more salt and vinegar to them, but otherwise, they’re a hit.
More On The Go Products

I’m not sure what it is about PiCK UP! Bars that appeals to me so much. Actually, I think I do know. Imagine a delicious s’more but without the sticky marshmallow, and that’s what these are. A chocolate slab between two cookies. We received a milk chocolate, a choco & milk, and…I think the other one was choco hazelnut….it seems to have ‘disappeared’ while I was writing! They’re all delicious, but my go-to is milk chocolate.

The RXBAR contains 3 egg whites, 14 peanuts, 2 dates, and no B.S., according to the front of the packaging. Oddly, dates aren’t listed in the ingredients (unless that is the natural flavours), and also in the ingredients are cocoa mass, sea salt, and fat-reduced cocoa. I wasn’t quite sure what I’d think, but it’s not bad. It reminds me a little of a candy bar back home with its texture and ingredients, but it’s a little different yet again. It’s very chewy and dense, so it will keep you going for a while. A bite is enough for me so this bar will last (or share it and it’ll be gone at once).

The Great British Porridge Co. had a single-serving in this month’s Degusta Box. It was flavoured with blueberry and banana. Porridge packets always remind me of camping as a child and travelling through western Canada. The blueberries were the stronger flavour in this, and coloured the breakfast purple. Phil and the children really liked this, especially topped with a fresh banana.

Boundless Activated Snacking Cayenne & Rosemary are almonds and cashew nuts with pumpkin and sunflower seeds, coated in maple syrup and spice. They are a little different from the usual, which isn’t a bad thing. I’m not sure I’d eat these often as they are, but I think they would be great mixed into a trail mix to tickle the taste buds.

As reviewers, we actually received 2 flavours of Swisse Me Smoothie. The chia is very thick and a bit crispy with the chia bits in it. The Mango flavour I did prefer as it was a little smoother and I like the taste of mango. So that we could all try some, we squeezed the pouch into small cups. The children said it was like baby food (which is funny because they never ate pureed baby food). Tristan says he really likes the chia one, so more for him!

We received 2 flavours of Master Cafe Iced Coffee as reviewers, but there will only have been one tin in purchased boxes. Phil and I tried the Latte flavour first, during a very hot and humid afternoon. We both really liked it! As far as bought iced coffees go, these are one of the best we’ve sampled. The flavour is strong but not bitter, and just the right amount of richness without being sickly sweet. In a surprising twist, while I usually prefer mocha or caramel over plain, but in this case I like the Latte flavour better.
