I’m pleased to share with you my 7th feature with Kids Activities Blog. It’s a part of their 10 Things To Do With Kids In… series. For this contribution I am sharing a few of our favourite things to do in Newcastle, Northern Ireland, UK.
Newcastle was one of the first road trips I made with new friends in Northern Ireland. We climbed Northern Ireland’s highest ‘mountain’, Slieve Donnard while bonding with my new friends (who I still keep in contact with after 10 years, though I’m the only one of us still here).
I’ve returned to the area many times since with friends and family. It’s a great excuse to show off Northern Ireland as well as explore something new ourselves. From the top of Slieve Donnard, to sea level sailing, the Newcastle area has something that will touch your heart and you’ll understand why songs and poetry have been written about the area where “the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea”.
There are water, forest, hills, ‘mountains’, history, and family fun available to everyone who visits the area. Whether your family are outdoor enthusiasts or prefer the indoors, you’ll be spoiled for choice in the Newcastle area of Northern Ireland.
