Have you tried out the sumptuous Easter treats from Hotel Chocolat this year? If you haven’t, I encourage you to hop on down to your nearest shop (or order online) and fill your cupboards with these fine temptations! Here’s a sneak peak of a few choice items.
When the fine folks at Hotel Chocolat asked me if we’d like to try out a sample of their 2017 Easter collection, I couldn’t answer back fast enough! Let me fill you in on the reasons why:
- Chocolate….and not just chocolate, but Hotel Chocolat!
- My son is allergic to dairy. and I spotted the Big City Bunny in dark chocolate that was dairy free!
- I loved the cute names that were given to some of the items.
- And again…chocolate…these late nights and hard working days need a little surprise.
When our carefully wrapped box arrived via a detour (it had been delivered to the wrong street; this wasn’t Hotel Chocolat’s fault, but we must put the kind gentleman who drove the box up to us on our Christmas list….I think I know the perfect place to find a gift for him….Hotel Chocolat, of course!) We tried to be patient to see what was inside as our lunch was on the table. Other than a stamp saying not to leave the box in direct sunlight, there’s no indication of what is contained within – perfect for curious little eyes who might be home during your delivery.
After lunch, and a quick tidy-up it was time for the big reveal:
What was in our big box? Wrapped up carefully within the black interior was a branded paper bag (that we’ll use again the next time we’re shopping in Belfast). And within this bag…were our Easter delights:
The Bunnies Basket
As you can tell from the video, The Bunnies Basket is Kallista’s favourite; she has lots of ideas of how the little individually wrapped bunnies and chicks can be used; hide them around the house for a hunt, put them on a cake or cupcakes, or of course, just eat them as they are! There are 15 characters in the cute box.
She says they’re ‘in a good amount,’ which means that they are small; not too big so that you’ll turn into a little Easter piggy! She’s going to hide a couple of them for our special guests to try when they arrive in a couple of weeks. They haven’t yet had the pleasure of enjoying Hotel Chocolat….and I’m sure they’ll be stopping by the shop during one of their trips into the city.
Before Kallista squirrels these little fellas away, we opened a packet and shared a bunny. Rich and full of milk chocolatey goodness! And yes, thankfully these are in smaller pieces or it would be too tempting to ‘just have another bite.’ Sometimes these reviews are difficult to do – I want to share with you how delicious everything is….but I also don’t want to crack into everything before Easter! Such a dilema!
Easter Pen Pals
This is such a fun collection! You know we love writing to our penpals, so this was perfect for us. Just like our real-life penpals, each of these three characters have their own personality. I love the Easter Pen Pals‘ punny names: the chick is Elizapeck, the sheep is Wooliam, and the rabbit is Rabbert. Tristan loves puns (as do I), so these brought us some giggles! And with caramel, white chocolate, and milk chocolate, there is a flavour for all, or all for you!
I’ve said it before, I’ve never been a big fan of white chocolate…with the exception of Hotel Chocolat’s not-too-rich, and vanilla bean’d white chocolat! Mmmmm, and Kallista agrees, this is her top choice! Rabbert is just a tad more chocolatey than than Big City Bunny. But my favourite here, is Elizapeck…so silky smooth and full of rich caramel flavour!
The Big City Bunny
I knew that Tristan would be tickled with the Dark Chocolate Big City Bunny (he’s never received a chocolate bunny that he could actually eat; we hadn’t found one…until now…and family and friends often don’t think about that and it’s so sad for him to receive things he can’t actually eat). I know just where to tell the Easter Bunny to shop for him next year!
The Milk Chocolate Big City Bunny is just as adorable, and is silky smooth and creamy, just as you’d expect.
These special Easter selections are available from Hotel Chocolat both in-store and on-line for home delivery! Why not surprise the kids …. or yourself (I won’t tell)!. While you’re there, please do have a look through the rest of the Hotel for all the other pleasures that will please those on your gift-giving list.
You can purchase Hotel Chocolat online as well as in store.
