We all know someone who is notoriously hard to buy for when it comes to gifts. You know the type: either they already have everything, they don’t need anything, or just after they mention something they’d like to have they go out and buy it themselves, even if it’s a week before Christmas or a birthday….what’s the solution? To help you out, I’m bringing you a few ideas that you may not have thought of. For more ideas, check out my other gift guides (many have giveaways): New Moms, Creative Moms, Cultural, Educational, Movies & Games…and more yet to come!
Mega Tiny Corp is a small company with mega ideas. Their range of unique phone cases and accessories are quite fun. They sent me an Anti Gravity iPhone case to try out and it’s caused some memorable moments.
The case fits snugly on my phone and I was able to stick it up on the windows using the microscopic suction pads on the case and record the birds in the back trees, the kids singing Christmas carols while reading the words on the other side of our glass windowed living room door, and it was a neat way to record the passing scenery of the sea and hills of Northern Ireland as we travelled on the train.
What else could you use an Anti-Gravity case for? Record yourself while on Skype or Facetime, record those moments your children have when you’re not in the room, especially when they’re toddlers and like to find mischief, stick up your phone on the kitchen back splash and have your favourite Pinterest recipe ready and off the counter….there are so many fun options!
The Anti-Gravity Space is exactly the same concept, but can be used directly on your phone or any hard phone case like a patch.
There is now a neat MEGAVERSE Anti-Gravity Pack that includes the Anti-Gravity phone case, plus extra options…attach a mirror to the back of the case, add on a wallet to keep your credit cards handy, or if you like your gadgets, there’s even a bottle opener – definitely a unique option for the person who has everything – I’m almost certain they won’t have a bottle-opening-mobile phone!
ps: As I mentioned above, using this phone can lead to funny situations…keep in mind that the first time you use an Anti-Gravity devise those little suction cup suckers really are fresh and sticky! The one piece of information missing in your instructions is how to remove your case from said window or other smooth surface…take your time and start on one side, work your fingers/nails back behind the case firmly and you will be able to remove your case (I’m so glad I tried this before leaving the house or I might still be going back and forth down the train line!) Boy, did the kids laugh at me!! After a few times of use it becomes much easier to remove.
We’ve been receiving a monthly UK Degustabox (also available from Degustabox USA) for the past 4 months now and always find them interesting. The boxes around the last week of the month when you’re feeling the budget pinch. Each month’s box comes carefully wrapped and enclosed within are surprise food and drink items that you may not have even seen yet in the shops.
We use our box for snacks and treats, date nights, and for inspiration when the menu becomes boring. It’s nice to have something to pull out of the cupboard to share with unexpected guests or to take along in a backpack to have ready when errands with the kids take longer than expected.
New moms may like having treats delivered right to their door. Of course, Degustabox would also make a terrific gift for neighbours or those hard-to-buy-for colleagues and friends. You can purchase a single box or sign up for a subscription.
You can can connect with Degustabox and order your subscription through their sites:
For the hard to buy for family member, or even as a ‘gag’ gift, I do recommend the Illumibowl. It’s both pretty and practical, and yet not something you’d probably think of purchasing.
- Are you tired of going to the loo after someone else has been in during the night and ‘missed’ the target?
- Have you had the disgrace of falling into the bowl after the seat has been left up during the night?
- Do you hate having to turn on the harsh, bright bathroom light at night and then having it glare into your eyes and wake you up just enough that after ‘spending a penny’ that you can’t get back to sleep?
Then the Illumibowl is just the thing for you!
Simply put a button battery into this little gizmo and use the suction cups to attach it to the side of your toilet bowl. There’s a motion sensor that turns the light on and it will automatically turn itself off again after two minutes without movement.
The Illumibowl is perfect for any household that has a young child, a teenage or older boy/man, or someone who wakes during the night to relieve themselves.
We’ve been using the Illumibowl for a few months, and it’s wonderful not to be blinded in the night (not to mention it’s much quieter because these UK light switch pulls can wake up the whole household in the night). An added bonus is that should you suffer a power failure, the illumibowl will keep your water closet in an ambient glow so that there’s no reason to fear to go in alone!
