Perhaps you joined us in October for World Vision’s Night of Hope? Perhaps you haven’t yet heard of World Vision and it’s determination to help children who live in fear around the world. This Friday will be known as Floral Friday and . So get out your floral prints and get your creative juices blooming to help support this charity event.
World Vision is working hard, to help children who live in fear. TV Presenter, Linda Barker has been to Cambodia and met Lee-Ap who is like many children there who are left alone at night so that their mothers can work to buy food and to send their children to school.
Lee-Ap and her siblings are afraid of the dark, and afraid of strangers who might harm them. This isn’t the safe and secure life that we want to bring our children up in. But all children, no matter where they are, deserve to feel safe.
For more information about Lee-Ap, you can watch her interview with Linda Barker:
Let’s do what we can this Friday to help Lee-Ap and other children like her.
If you’re in the UK, text FLORAL to 70060 to donate £5.
Make a donation of any amount on line.
Or plan your own Floral Friday fundraiser at work, school, or with friends and family.
To get you started, here are a few ideas:
- Wear floral clothing (and if you’re like me and don’t have anything floral in your wardrobe, be one of the first 1500 to sign up to fundraise then you will get a limited-edition scarf designed by Linda Barker).
- Host a tea party
- Have a bake sale
- Dress down (but floral) at work in exchange for a donation
- Have a raffle
- Organise a silent auction
If you’re looking for something less ‘formal’ then simply donate your coffee money for the day or week. I’ll be going without chocolate and donating the money I’d usually spend on that!
And let’s not forget to have the kids get involved! Make some origami flowers like the ones Linda Barker made with the children in Cambodia. Painting or even crocheting would also be great ways to decorate the house!
How will you be supporting World Vision this Floral Friday?
