5 Fun Ways To Display Your Family Photos

5 Fun Ways To Display Your Family Photos at Castle View Academy homeschool

You know we love taking photos!  Even our children have their own second-hand digital cameras and learn new skills.  We live in a world in which we are taking ever more photos. With the increasing quality of cameras on smartphones, most of us are carrying around a high-quality digital camera in our pocket at all times which means we are prepared and ready to photograph all the fun moments from our day more than ever.

So what do you do with the hundreds of photos you are getting of your family every month? Do you just leave them on your phone? Upload them to social media, so a handful of friends see them just the once? Or transfer them to a computer from which they will never see the light of day?

If you want to do something else meaningful with those photos, then check out these five fun ways to display your family photos.

Five Fun Ways To Display Your Family Photos

Create your own playing cards

Take your photos and stick them on the back of a deck of playing cards. They’ll be much more interesting to look at than the standard patterns that you’ll find on the nine of hearts or the ace of spades, and you’ll be able to recall happy memories every time you sit down as a family for a game of snap.

Have a photo bookshelf

You might not have noticed it before, but there can be loads of blank space in between the shelves of a bookshelf. This is a great place for displaying photos. There will often be differences in the sizes between the shelves which means each image will need to be a different size and that creates a varied look. This will give an interesting focal point to your bookshelf. The photos can also draw a visitor’s attention to your shelves, making it a great way to subtly make people aware of your great range of reading as well.

Make a photo collage

The most popular way of displaying loads of photos is with a photo collage. There is no one set way or a particular style you should be using, and each person’s collage will often reflect their family’s personality, meaning this can be a particularly creative way to display your photos. Because of the variety of collage templates out there, no two collages are ever the same, and that means you could create a different piece of great visual artwork using your home photos for every room of the home.

Produce your own coasters

Every time you make a cup of coffee or tea, you are probably going to use a coaster to place it on. That makes the coaster one of the more obvious everyday items in which to display photos. All you need is some 4”x4” ceramic tiles, the photos you want to use printed and cut into a suitable shape, felt, craft glue and sealant. Or if you don’t fancy the idea of making them for yourself, there are plenty of companies out there who can do it for you for a small price.

Cover your candle jars

Make your candle jars more interesting by covering them with photos. You’ll still get the benefit of the light and mood that the candle brings, but you’ll instantly have something more interesting than just a transparent glass jar. Because of the amount of use candle jars get, you’ll probably find yourself having to change the photos on a regular basis but this is no bad thing – we’re forever taking more photos and variety is the spice of life. Black and white images tend to be particularly effective.
