Last week Monday’s plans didn’t go according to schedule and the children didn’t have their Monday night movie and popcorn with Daddy. So it was rescheduled to Friday night so that I was able to join in the fun! I thought it would be fun to have something a little special for us to share together. A quick glance in the cupboards and fridge and I came up with this Easy Peasy Dill Dip Party Platter.
One of my favourite treats to enjoy while watching a movie at home in Canada was ripple chips (crisps) and dip them in dill pickle dip. Maille had provided me with a jar of their Mustard With White Wine, Dill and Lime to create a recipe for their culinary challenge, and I thought it would do the trick….
Dill Dip Directions:
- 100 gr Soft Cream Cheese (I used the lite variety)
- 5 ml Maille Mustard With White Wine, Dill and Lime
Mix these two ingredients together until well blended and your dill dip is done!
I like my children to eat healthy; unfortunately Mom and Dad don’t always live by the same rules. But it’s fun to mix things up every now and then! For our platter we used some veggie sticks I’d previously sliced up for the children’s snacks and I raided the goody cupboard for some savoury munchies. As I was craving the tastes of ‘home’, I found some ripple/ridged crisps and brought them out.
All that was left was to turn up the volume a little on the movie so we could hear it over our munching. The dill dip party platter was devoured in no time! The dill dip worked equally well with both the savoury snacks and the veggies. I’ll definitely be making this again for family gatherings or just a quiet night in on date night.
Now that you know my favourite dipper, what do you like to dip?

This is a great idea and one of the few ways I can get my son to eat his dinner, if he’s sharing it off a plate with us it seems to work. Yum!
Crystal McClean says
That’s a great strategy Eva! Finger foods would be perfect for you then 😉

What an easy (and tasty) dip! I’m a little bit of a platter fan, give me a platter of cheese, biscuits and dip and I’m a very happy lady. Love your blog, I’ve discovered you via Mummy Mondays. Have a great week x

Hi Lauren, it’s nice to meet you! Platters are very social, aren’t they? Not to mention they’re really a lot easier than you’d think to throw together! Cheese and crackers have always been my favourite. The kids love platters and think they’re special, but we really should think about them more often:-)

I like the sound of that dip. The dill makes it sound almost Eastern European.
I’m your fellow Crew member in the UK.
Crystal McClean says
I never thought of dill being Eastern European, but it would make sense given my family background! And it would explain why in 10 years I’ve yet to find a decent dill pickle in the shops here 😉 Of course, there’s nothing better than Mom’s food…in the meantime, I’ll just make more dip and think of home! It sounds like our afternoon snack is sorted as I’ve still some cream cheese left.
Thanks for stopping by, glad to know there’s another Crew member nearby!
