Indoor Camping Fun For Kids

July 23, 2012 by Crystal McClean

What to do when the weather is cool, wet, and windy, and you’ve already taken your vacation? Why, go indoor camping in the living room, of course!

Indoor Camping Fun With Kids is perfect for a summer adventure!

We haven’t had the tent up in a year, so we decided it was time to put it to use again.

There are so many things you can do with a tent in your front room (though it does take up most of the room, it seems.  But that’s inconsequential when you’re having fun!)

We have decided to have a bit of a camping theme while the tent is up.

We have had an indoor picnic in the woods when the weather was bad:

Tristan has had a couple of nights of ‘camping out’ in the tent.  He sleeps surprisingly well in there!

Kallista wants to be like her big brother, but only lasts a few minutes

We’ve explored how light reflects and how to use flash lights and lanterns and read stories by lantern light.

They make for cozy story time fun!

In upcoming posts you can join us as we move closer to a lake and go fishing, create a ‘forest’, and have more wild adventures together!  Hike over to our pages on Indoor Camping and Summer Fun for more ideas to keep the kids happy!

Thanks for posting. My kids think everything is better in a tent! We will be doing snack and story time in the Thomas tent next week.

It can be lots of fun! We’ll be doing lots of activities next year that didn’t get done this year…or maybe we’ll do some winter camping? Now there’s an idea!

Awesome! My kids have been asking about the tent with summer approaching…I think it’s time to bring it out again 🙂 For something so simple, it sure does involve a lot of imagination and pretend play!
