We’ve been thrilled to have a sneak peak at Julia Dweck’s newest book, Blucy: The Blue Cat. We’ve been avid fans of Julia’s since we were paired up with her for May’s Kid Lit Giveaway Hop we reviewed her book, Where Are The Dinos? How Julia thinks up these great stories so quickly, I don’t know, but she sure makes them seem effortless.

Blucy is a very special cat that turns various shades of blue with her emotions! Mandy chooses Blucy from all the cats at the pound. However, once Mandy gets blucy home she discovers that Blucy is just like most other young felines in the ways she enjoys getting into mischief around her new home, not to mention her fussy eating! Blucy’s antics, written in Julia’s recognisable rhymes and rhythms endear us to Blucy all the more. Like all cats, when Blucy is in trouble she’s hard to find – but much more so when she matches her surroundings. What has she been up to and where can she be hiding now?
Erika LeBarre has done the illustrations for Blucy, and they are spot-on for the feel of the book. From Mandy’s almond-shaped eyes to Blucy’s expressions; each one different and appropriate to the cat’s behaviour. Check out Blucy’s Facebook page to see more about Blucy’s creation.
As soon as we received this ebook the whole family settled in and read it together. Tristan’s favourite illustration is Blucy in mid-change. Reading about a blue cat is not something we do everyday; well, not until now that is! Blucy lends herself to opening up discussions with children about emotions and appropriate behaviour. There’s a lot to be learned from this book…but if my children ever take a blue crayon to our walls I’ll be sending a strongly-worded email to Julia!
We’ve been expanding our library of Julia Dweck books since May. Tristan and Kallista love her books and we read at least one per day. There’s always something more at the back of her books, and in Blucy we learn some interesting cat-facts, and the activity is done in a unique way.
There are many ways you can keep on top of Blucy’s adventures. She has her own Facebook page, Goodreads page, Pinterest board, YouTube trailer, and use the hashtag #Blucy to join in the conversation on Twitter.

If you love Julia Dweck, be sure to connect with her through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or her own Website.

I received an advance copy of this e-book in exchange for my honest opinion.
