Last year I purchased a lot of paper plates in the hopes of getting out for picnics on the beach or in the wood. Way back ‘when I was young’, I remember going with my best friend and her family to their northern cottage near a lake in the forest. Last Saturday we went out to join in and plant our tree for the Jubilee. Our village has been marked as one of the 60 sites around the UK, and the only site in Northern Ireland, for a Jubilee wood to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years on the throne. This is a great little game for learning to count, learning colours, gross motor skills, exercise, and having a good time. It doesn’t take long and you don’t need a lot of room; a short hallway will do the trick.
