Autumn Leaf People

August 31, 2015 by Crystal McClean

Autumn is in the air and the leaves are falling.  They aren’t just a nuisance, they’re nature’s craft supplies!  We took our new book, Learn With Play: 150+ Activities for Year-round Fun & Learning, out and got busy.

Leaf People adapted from the book Learn With Play 150+ Activities for Year-round Fun & Learning

Tristan, Kallista, and I have had a great time this year attending the Biodiversity Summer School.  We forgot how much we liked walking down to this quiet little space of nature.  We’ve continued to venture down and it’s the perfect place to do some nature crafting.

The children were having such a good time, that they attracted the attention of others out walking.  Everyone loved the idea of making leaf people!Leaf Fairies are fun to make. Each one is unique! Tutotial is in the book Learn With Play 150+ Activities For Year-Round Fun & Learning 1

Then it was time to find the little people a home of their own to watch over the woods.  They look like a happy family, don’t they?

Leaf Fairies are right at home in the Jubilee Wood! Full tutorial can be found in Learn With Play 150+ Acitivities For Year-Round Fun & Learning

The third grade classes at our elementary school do this project and the children love it so much. I like how you take the children outdoors so often and utilize what is available so we can replicate without a huge cost, and we get exercise. Thanks!

There’s no age limit on fun! Free and frugal are what we love best. We can all use exercise, and when we have a fun destination in mind, it doesn’t feel like ‘exercise’ to walk there 🙂
